Maravilla Beach

Maravilla Beach
(Tabuelan, Cebu)

For this year's summer escapade, I've been to this beautiful place. Nope, this isn't a new place to me because I have been coming back here for what seems like forever. I have been here for many times already, but ironically it isn't on my blog yet. It maybe because I am too selfish to share my “self-claimed” paradise. Tabuelan is a municipality in the north, and this is the town you get to passed by prior San Remigio.

Tabuelan is a small town composed of twelve barangays. As for me, the barangay that has the most beautiful white sand beach is Maravilla. It happened to be the specific barangay my mother-in-law used to live in her younger years so it's the family vacation destination most of the time. Maravilla by the way is the last barangay of Tabuelan before your enter the town of San Remigio. There are no particular resorts in Maravilla, but some neighboring barangays have. I don't want to be biased, but I must say that the neighboring barangays’ beach resorts though still a part of Tabuelan, is not that attractive compared to Maravilla's. As a proof, please see some photos for your reference.

If you are simply looking for a placid getaway place without having to spend too much for some fancy accommodations then welcome to my paradise! The last summer we were there we brought with us a tent. For you planning to visit this place, but don’t have a direct contact with a local living there, I’d suggest you go straight to their barangay hall. You will be assisted there, and I think you will be asked to pay for  just a minimal amount. If you don’t have a tent they have cottages for rent and some air-conditioned rooms (depends on the availability though).

How to get there:

From north bus terminal you may catch a bus ride. However, there are limited & scheduled buses going straight to Maravilla (they are only mini buses too and not air-conditioned- if comfort is an issue to you-). Be that as it may, you need not to worry because there are other options for you to choose to get there. You may ride a ceres bus or V-hire from north bus or ayala terminal going to Tuburan, Cebu. Once in Tuburan, there are tricycles or “habal-habal” that will take you to Tabuelan town. In the town you will be greeted by “habal-habal” drivers that will take you to brgy. Maravilla.

ONE WAY ONLY Budget:

V-hire fare: 140 (from ayala terminal to Tuburan)
Tricycle: 20 (from Tuburan to Tabuelan)
Habal2x: (from Tabuelan town to Maravilla)

  1. Hi, I would like to ask if how did you went about the food? Is there a Market/Karenderia nearby that we can buy food from or are we allowed to grill near the beach? Please enlighten. Thanks! :)

    1. Hello Nory.. No problem with the food at all, you can purchase from their public market before going to Maravilla beach, and if you're lucky enough you'll chance on a fisherman with fresh catch of the day and buy it straight from him. I think the barangay provides a grilling area too, just ask around - locals are happy to help. :)
