Mambukal

Mambukal Resort
(Murcia, Negros Occidental)
To those who are looking for a place where you can relax and be one with mother nature, but enjoy at the same time- this place is one of the best choice you have around Negros Occidental! This a mountain resort located in the town of Murcia. One of the perks this place has to offer is that even though it’s a mountain resort, it is very accessible. It’s just one bus ride from Libertad public market in Bacolod, and presto- they stop at the very entrance of the resort!

I have been to quite several mountain resorts before, but this place is extraordinary so far. If you want relaxation, you got it! Be that as it may, the resort has plenty of activities to offer. Below is a photo of their most recently updated tariff with the list of activities they have and their reasonable fees.

In our one day stay at Mambukal we were able to enjoy almost all of their fun activities. We went there last October 2 of this year – just in time for the cold weather that “ber" months brings. Therefore, a dip in their Hot Dipping Pool is a very enticing idea – and it sure was one hot fun! The temperature is bearable though once you get used to it. I highly recommend you try this when you get the chance to visit Mambukal. Also, the boating and slide for life activity are a must try too! Once you’ve tried the activities you like and your tummy starts grumbling, they have a cafeteria that is open from 6AM until 9PM. Now if you are on a tight budget – good news! As the food in their cafeteria are not just affordable, but are also sumptuous and very generous in their servings! Well, there are different vendors selling at their cafeteria, but we only tried one as we were very impressed with their price and servings that we didn’t think of trying from other vendors until we checked out the following day (*grin*).

Now, for the highlight of our Mambukal escapade – my husband was up for some more adventure before going back to the hustle and bustle of our busy lives in the city. I, on the other hand was up for a little climb too so we decided to trek to the seven waterfalls of Mambukal – up we go! For this adventure, it is a resort mandatory rule to hire a tour guide should a guest decide to trek up for safety purposes.

The trek was fairly easy as there is a proper trail to follow through. It took us roughly an hour or so to reach the 6th falls, we did not have enough time to proceed to the 7th falls as according to our guide it will take approximately three hours from the 6th falls to reach there (quite far I must say!).

To sum it all up, the whole adventure was so much fun! I have checked one place off my bucket list! As for the tour guide fee, you need not to worry about over pricing as they don’t actually demand a certain amount, it’s all up to you- however, I’d suggest you give your guide at least no lesser than 500 Php because there are actually 26 (if our guide gave us a reliable info) of them and they follow a round-robin process so if there are lesser tourists it is possible that not all of them are given the chance to earn for the day. This is one of their ways to earn a living too so surely 500 Php from you wouldn’t hurt especially if you are a large group, right?

GETTING THERE:

If you are coming from Bacolod, proceed to Libertad Public market and there you will find the terminal where buses heading to Mambukal are stationed. There are signages so it's very easy to find which buses are going to Mambukal resort.

Expenses:

Bus to Mambukal (and vice versa) - 35

Heads-up:

We had the LGU cottage (good for two) accommodation, and to our surprise there was no television in our room. I'm not very sure if that's the same to rooms with higher costs, but we're on a vacation and we want to spend time together outdoor so who needs a TV anyway? Overall, I highly recommend the place and will definitely be going back there should our busy schedules allow it.

All praises be to GOD!
