MALAPASCUA ISLAND
Malapascua
This halcyon island is another gem
Cebuanos are proud of and a haven for divers. The island boasts its marine life
and hectares of reefs that divers will really enjoy. It is also home to
thresher sharks that are present all year-round so I reckon this is a bonus to
brave souls. If you just need a place to be away and do some soul-searching
this is also a good place for you to unwind and just pretend to cease from
existing from the busy city-life even for a short while.
I and my equally dog tired friends
arrived at the Island after our Kalanggaman Island exploration. It was a
layback Saturday afternoon and we went straight to our hotel where our very
inviting beds were waiting for us to plop face down anytime we want. However, it
isn’t justifiably right to just stay in one place considering it is our first
time to visit this place so we headed out from our hotel to look for a place to
dine. There are plenty of options as this island is a commercialized place
already. If you are quite tight on budget you can find fairly priced eateries
all around or if you wish to dine by the beach there are also fine restaurants
that can be quite costly. After dinner, I was so tired that I decided to call
it a night (but not for some of my friends who were still up for some cocktails
– lol). After all, I need to prepare for the following day as we were set on
another adventure of exploring around the Island.
Hectares of coral reefs
underneath and marine life to be seen. A true paradise for divers!
This used to be another
part of the Island where some high-end resorts were built before typhoon
Yolanda destroyed it.
According to the
boatmen, this is the most beautiful part of the Island. We weren’t just lucky
enough to get close because of our limited time.
Another diving spot
where you can see the Japanese sunken ship’s skeleton under.
We headed back to our hotel before
our check out time to prepare ourselves and stuffs. Everything went smoothly
and we have our tour provider to thank for that (Affordable Cebu Tours – check
out on Facebook or you may contact them on 09171400450).
I have to applaud the Island and its
residents for keeping the commercialized yet layback vibe all together! This is
a must visit place as well in my own opinion. Also, just for your reference -
at the entry point to Malapascua (Maya port) which is also our entry point to
Kalanggaman, if it is low tide you will be asked to board a very small
motorized canoe that can accommodate up to 7 persons as the bigger pump boats
can’t make it close to the shore.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
