TUMALOG FALLS

Tumalog Falls

(Tan-awan, Oslob)

Right after our whale shark watching we proceeded to our second port of call. It's the captivating Tumalog Waterfall! From the whale-watching resort, we hired a motorcycle (habal-habal) to take us to our next destination. The trip took around 15-20 minutes, depending on the driver's driving speed. Ahead of us was a roadblock where motorcycles usually stop, drop and wait for passengers. A staff will meet you at the entrance to collect fees. From there you can start your trek to the falls or if your feet are too tired to walk you can ask the driver to take you straight to the falls.

Personally, I would suggest to trek down the slope as the road is very steep. It is so far safer and fun to do especially if you're with your friends. Not only will you enjoy the sight of the picturesque view on the way to the falls, but you can also pause every now and then to strike a wacky pose. The trekking would take about 8-10 minutes or more depending on your pace. I'll admit; it can be a tad tiring but when you reach the falls, the view is very much gratifying.

Going down, down, down..Sun-kissed skin :)

Entrance view..WOW! Wait, is that water gushing I hear??

(Holy molly! The mother falls! I am awestruck.....Epic!)

(Scenic...just scenic)

The water is just waist deep for an adult with a height of 5'7” like me. However, if you've got kids, I'm sure they would enjoy it with a swimming floater. The water is icy cold and is indeed perfect, especially for a weather like ours here in the Philippines during summer. The place is truly a gem waiting to be discovered by many as it is not fully developed yet. There are no huts for you to rent to place your things on so be sure to have one of your companions to guard your things, do not swim all together. I'm not saying that someone will steal your things, but it's better safe than sorry, correct? Luckily for us one of our friends isn't in the mood for dipping as she just loves to savor the scenery (and be our photographer. Lol). Whilst there are no huts to be your temporary shelter, need not to worry as the shades of the trees and the freshness of the environment brings you enough comfort from the piercing heat of the sun.

Here are a few tips for those who are planning to pay a visit to this astonishing place. Bring your own picnic blanket or anything you can sit on if you're planning to stay for more than an hour. Bring your own food as there are no stores nearby because the place is very secluded. Lastly, bring towels or anything that you can take cover when changing clothes as there are no dressing areas nearby. :)

The trek back up is the most challenging part of our journey to the falls. Seeing motorcycles passing by you going up that slope is rather tempting, but I am proud of myself to have resisted the urge to catch a ride. It's like reaching the highest summit after a lot of life-threatening struggle. (Big grin to that! Congratulate me! :-D )

Expenses going to Tumalog Falls:

Motorcycle fare- 120 Php (back and forth, but until the roadblock only.)

Entrance fee- 20 Php (per pax)

*If you want to take another ride going down to the falls you'll have to pay 30 Php (one way only).

If you are an adventure seeker and fond of discovering new places, you haven't been to, then this place should be on your bucket list. Whilst it may not be the best falls, the province of Cebu has, but surely this will quench the fiery feeling summer brings! I hope this place has been an addition to your itinerary for this summer. Our next destination will be our temporary abode. It is a mountain resort located in Dalaguete JUST INN. We've passed by Dalaguete on our way to Oslob; they are separated by two towns.

ALL praises be to God!!
