URAGAY SPRING

Uragay Spring
(Brgy. Corte, Carmen)

It's been a while since I have written on my blog, but I'm back and it feels just as great as the last time I was here. Well, it's summer again here in the Philippines so you're gonna be expecting more from me and that's a promise!

As the summer kicks in and you are starting to feel the warm to hot breeze, there is nothing more you'll ever want than a quick dip to a tub filled with ice. Good thing for those who wants some time away from the city but does not have enough time or simply don't want to wander too far, there is a place worth going to.

A fresh cold spring near the city is made available by mother nature. It is located at Carmen, Cebu. For those folks who have their own vehicle, the place is less than an hour straight drive, but for the commuters, you may catch a bus ride at the north bus terminal. Distance from Cebu City to Carmen is 43 kilometers. I'm guessing the fare is not more than a hundred pesos, but my latest info is it's even less than 50 pesos (sorry if I don't have the exact amount, as we have our own vehicle). When you arrive at Carmen's public market, you will take a habal-habal ride and it will cost you around 30 pesos per pax. Habal-habal by the way is a means of transportation here in the Philippines especially going to the mountain barangays. It is a motor bike sometimes even extended to add more space to accommodate more people than a usual motor bike can. If it is your first time, you may get your heart beating faster than usual as it literally looks unsafe, but once you're in it, you will enjoy the ride, I swear!

Anyway, going back to the main topic. Uragay Spring is a commercialize mountain resort, but not too much as its natural beauty is maintained still, more like they just enhanced it to attract more visitors. I even personally think that the fees are just enough to maintain the cleanliness and the maintenance of the place. It was also by the way the source of Cebu's famous water brand Nature's Spring but of course the bottled water they sell went through thorough distillation process before distributing to the market.

The fees are posted right in the very entrance of the resort.

Right before you reach the pool you'll pass by their fishpond where you can feed the fishes if you wish.

The 4 feet kiddie pool

The adult pool! Surely enticing to plunge directly to the water once you get there huh? But a piece of advice from me? Don't! As you might suffer from hypothermia. LOL!

While there is only one pool for adult and for kids, the adrenaline junkies need not to worry as the adult pool is not one level only. From 5 feet it is getting deeper and deeper further until it reaches 9 feet, not too bad right? If you worry about the hygiene of the pool, I've got a good news! You don't have to because it is a flowing water so the water in both pools are not stagnant as it continuously flows. My pictures may look like it is not clean and safe but trust me, it is. It was a hot Sunday when we were there so plenty of families and friends were there to hang out too.

To GOD be the GLORY!
